If you’ve been following our blog, we recently announced the exciting hiring of both Atul Dhuria and Darshan Shah. Both have already been putting their noses to the grindstone and bringing new and innovative ideas to the company. More specifically, ideas around the future development of Satellite Communication and Commercial Space within Bliley and our products.
Because we are so excited for this next chapter at Bliley, we thought you’d like to meet the masterminds behind this vision of new space. I asked both Atul and Darshan 3 questions about their previous experiences and what drives them to be great every day. So without further ado, let’s all give a warm welcome to Atul and Darshan!
Atul: I’ve been involved in the Aerospace and Defense industry since 2005 with the majority of my career spent at The Boeing Company in new product engineering and manufacturing development roles in Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Boeing Defense Systems, and Boeing Test and Evaluation. I also spent time at Global Eagle leading their Systems Engineering Integration and Test organization in new product development for In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity systems that are installed on commercial airlines. The main reason for me getting into the Aerospace and Defense industry was my early interest in airplanes and space growing up. I have and still am fascinated by flight which is the reason why I’m still involved after 12 years.
Rob: What motivates you every day while on the job?
Atul: Being involved in new product development to help make Bliley better is very motivating. I have always had a natural curiosity to understand how things work which is the primary reason for me being in new technology development. I use a systems approach in my thinking which means that I look at how things are related and interact to create a unique capability. It is very satisfying to see the products that I have worked on being used by consumers and the warfighter. There was a lot of work to get there but seeing it fielded makes it worth it. For example, I was able to fly on the 787 seven years after I was on the fuel systems team integrating software on the aircraft.
Rob: That’s awesome! Can you get me on the 787 sometime?? Anyway, last question…If you could meet any well-known person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Atul: I’d like to meet Nikolai Tesla. The amount of technology and products that he’s attributed is astounding. He often goes un-noticed but many of the technologies that we use today can be traced back to his work.
Thanks, Atul! Let’s move on to Darshan…
Darshan: I have been in the industry for almost 10 years. My main reason for getting into the Satcom and Commercial Space Industry was the interest that I had in getting into communications as a concentration within Electrical Engineering during college. The thought that a single satellite would help service thousands of individuals, whether it be with television or connectivity, amazes me. The space missions and programs seemed really cool to work on as well!
Rob: What motivates you while on the job every day?
Darshan: The ability to work on exciting projects or missions that involve the use of cutting edge technology is very motivating. Also, the thought of changing and even completely disrupting the industry by introducing new technology definitely is a great motivator for me.
Rob: Ok last question. Let’s make it a fun one… If you could meet any well-known person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Darshan: I think it’d be really cool to meet Elon Musk. He’s one of the leaders in shaping the future of the space industry. He also is bringing back popularity amongst those who aren’t exactly plugged into the space industry…kind of like how it was during the Apollo missions.
Rob: Thanks Darshan! It really is amazing what Elon Musk has been doing in the new space world. Great inspiration!
Get Ready for Greatness
Hopefully everyone enjoyed meeting both Atul and Darshan! Be ready for more great things to come from Bliley in the near future regarding space commercialization and Satellite communication! Join us for the flight:
